Model Riksdagen
A Swedish parliamentary simulation where every player shapes the nation's future.
ABOUT
Model Riksdagen brings the Swedish parliament to life as a living, breathing simulation.
Build coalitions, propose reforms, and navigate the political landscape of Sweden alongside other players and computer-controlled actors.
From budget battles to spontaneous interpellations, every session is shaped by you and your fellow MPs.
Model Riksdagen models the Swedish system as it actually works: 349 seats, proportional representation, the four percent threshold, and the constant coalition arithmetic that decides who governs. Parties negotiate in public and in private, budgets are argued line by line, and committee work happens between sessions where much of the real influence lives.
Sessions are short enough to play in a spare moment — read the motion, take a position, cast a vote — or long enough to lead a party through a whole term. A simulated Swedish media cycle reports on what happens and tracks polling over time.
The game is fully bilingual, free to play, and runs directly in the browser on desktop and mobile. It is aimed at anyone curious about how Swedish politics is made, whether you are a student, a political junkie, or a player who simply enjoys negotiation-heavy multiplayer games with real stakes and no dice rolls.

REVIEWS & RATINGS
Editorial review by TrySomeGames — not a player rating
VERDICT: A faithful, fully bilingual recreation of the Swedish Riksdag — political simulation with a distinctly Nordic rhythm.
Model Riksdagen takes the same simulation backbone as Green Benches and rebuilds it around Swedish parliamentary reality: proportional representation, the 4% threshold, eight established parties, and a working committee system. Everything is playable in either Swedish or English, with debates translated in real time.
The thing that surprised us most is the committee work. Most political games skip straight to the chamber, but here the genuine drama lives in the utskott — where amendments get hammered out, deals get cut, and ministers are forced to defend awkward statistics. By the time a bill reaches the chamber, the outcome often feels earned.
Coalition mechanics are the other standout. With eight parties and no natural majority, every vote becomes a negotiation. The simulation tracks trust, broken promises, and informal agreements, so betraying a coalition partner has real downstream cost.
PROS
- Fully bilingual — play and debate in EN or SV
- Real proportional representation, including the 4% threshold
- Deep committee system rewards detail-oriented play
- Coalition mechanics with persistent trust tracking
CONS
- Smaller player base than Green Benches (growing fast)
- Procedure-heavy — players who only want elections may find it slow

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Do I need to speak Swedish?
No. The whole game has an English and a Swedish version — switch language at any time.
Can I join one of the real Swedish parties?
Yes — all eight Riksdag parties are playable. You can also form a new party and try to clear the 4% threshold at the next election.
How are elections run?
Elections happen on a fixed in-game schedule using true proportional allocation by constituency. Campaigning, debates, and the final allocation are all simulated.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to join and play, in both languages, with no paywalls.
Can Green Benches players bring over their experience?
The procedure is different, but yes — anyone comfortable with parliamentary debate will pick up Model Riksdagen quickly. The two communities overlap a lot.
